DI2BO - Second German ExperimentalRadio Station on Medium Wave

Since January 2005 tests are conducted to study the special propagation conditions on medium wave. Walter, DJ2LF in Dormitz near Nuernberg operates the experimental station DI2AG on 505.1 kHz. Supplementary to these test transmissions the German radio authorities issuesd further licenses for an experimental radio stations, one of  which is oeprated by Holger ('Geri'), DK8KW in Peine near Hannover (JO52BH). The callsign of this station is DI2BO.

The permiotted operating conditions of DI2BO are the same as for DI2AG. Test transmissions will be conducted on 505.1 kHz plus/minus 100 Hz with a maximum radiated power of 9 Watt ERP. Additionally, DI2BO is licensed to transmit on 440 kHz. All beacon transmissions will be coordinated in a way so that they can be observed simultaneously to study the porpagation from both locations at the same time. Also two-way contacts between bothexperimental stations are planned.

DI2BO is using a marine radio DEBEG 7121 with about 130 Watt outpt powerand an 18 meter high umbrella antenna with 5 top load radials. Theoreticallythis configuration should result in a maximum effective radiated power ofaround 5 Watt ERP.

Although DI-callsigns are not part of the amateur radio service, reception reports from radio amateurs and all other interested parties are highly welcome.
